Right, with my last film locked somewhere in the college vaults, I've been working on an outline for a film I'm thinking of shooting in late 2003. Here's the only initial problem I can see with the concept.
The protagonist has to dig a hole. Large enough for him to fit in. So, um, I was just wondering if anyone else had done this before? Pesky laws pretty much prevent me from digging up random holes in a field or at the beach. A friend of mine dug up a forest before, but I think he had found a hole there to begin with.
Alternativly, has anyone ever shot in a cave? Lots of lighting fun I imagine. Basically I have to get this guy underground somehow. Any ideas, dear brothers?

well if you accept defeat on digging a hole anywhere then you have indeed dug a hole for your concept.
obviously I don't know the context, but couldn't you just use a pitch black room, rimlighting just the character's face. your soundtrack will then tell the audience he is underground.
i dunno, but an actual cave sounds like a waste of film.

yeah dig that hole illegally man. They arent following you EVERYWHERE.
Go to the forest or something. Or let your character go to the forest, and let him start digging there.... and then have your character dig in your back yard! They will not tell he is not in the forest anymore, as long if you have one or two plants in the background.

I also neglected to mention that they are people in the "walls" of the hole too...bah, I'll find a way-it's not till next year.
